There’s this great Tweet going around from a guy who wanted to share all the hilarious things that bring his sensitive wife to tears.

The tweet is from Aaron Gillies who is a UK comedy writer and clearly loves his wife Lex and this little quirk about her…And THAT may or may not have made ME cry.

Yes, I too am a “Town Cryer”. I could blame it on being a mom, but you don’t have to be a mom to be sensitive to this degree. I do think that’s when it all started for me. Don’t get me wrong, I won’t cry when you yell at me…I’m a pretty good yeller — but if you tell me something sweet..or sad…or show me a really really cute hamster…get the kleenex. In part, I can give some of this credit to the internet, since it does provide a venue for sharing even more of those big and little stories that touch our lives in many ways.

I was inspired to make a quick list to of things that made me tear up in the past week or so…

  • Adele made her fans cry
  • My kid loves rowing — he found his sport…after a million rec centre programs (and is a pretty well rounded kid because of that)
  • I found a fabled Purdy’s Chocolate Advent Calendar for my kids before they sold out
  • My almost 90-year old Gramma has dementia (you’d cry too)
  • The Foo Fighters release a 5-song EP for their fans for free, because they love them — and as a tribute to lives lost in Paris attacks
  • Syrian refugees were greeted in the Calgary airport by family and perfect strangers with signs of welcome, flowers and hugs
  • This whole city shared photos of a spectacular sunset online this weekend

And you know, it’s all perfectly OK. Shed a tear, share an amazing story and be on your way. The way I see it, if you’re looking at the people and creatures you see around you with empathy, we’re going to save a lot of time on playing games…after we wipe our noses anyways.
