It’s World Refugee Day and in Canada these days, we have heard much about refugees in the news.

You likely haven’t heard this story though. In about 26 minutes, Canadian filmmakers and sisters Roda and Asha Siad, have created a beautiful window into what life is like for the first 19 Days that refugees coming into Canada experience at a resettlement home in Calgary.

Interview with Film-maker of 19 Days - Roda Siad

Roda is a documentary filmmaker who employs media as a tool for advocacy. In 2013, she joined forces with her sister, Asha, to establish Borderless Films, an independent production company that promotes social change through creative storytelling. Roda and her sister are the daughters of Somali refugees who came to Canada in the 1990s.
