Hey there Ocean Fans!

It was another crazy weekend out there. I was happy to be out in the sun and giving out all kinds of prizes. A big shout out to Hillside Centre, Moxie’s Bar & Grill and Barb’s Fish & Chips for providing the prizes that we’ve been giving out so far this summer. Our prize vault has proved incredibly popular at every event we’ve been to, and I think the fact that we have such awesome prizes is a major factor in that.

This Saturday, Kate and I went up to Sidney for Taking it to the Streets – a road hockey tournament to benefit the Help Fill a Dream foundation. We were posted up right in front of the Mary Winspear centre, it was a beautiful day, and it was a pretty darn fun event to spectate. Everybody loves a good road hockey tournament, right?

I wish I could’ve picked up a stick and joined in the fun! I’m not sure how well I would’ve done though, some of the teams were pretty excellent. One of the teams had three members of the Victoria Royals! I think that’s a little unfair for a charity road hockey tournament, don’t you think? Even worse was a team that was made up of the Peninsula Panthers Junior B hockey team. I’m not sure who ended up victorious in the tournament, but I wouldn’t want to face a bunch of guys who play hockey all day every day. That’s for sure. It was a wonderful event though, and I’m glad we could be there to support the Help Fill a Dream foundation.

Sunday was World Ocean Day! There was a large-scale celebration / informative fair at Fisherman’s Wharf being put on by the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority for the occasion, and we knew we had to be a part of it! I mean, how appropriate is it that ‘Ocean’ 98.5 celebrates world Ocean day? I think it’s just too perfect, and SO on brand for us. It was a beautiful sunny day, and there were all kinds of different educational tents set up all over Fisherman’s wharf park. We learned a whole lot about ocean conservation, the creatures that dwell in the ocean around Victoria, and what we can do to help all of those efforts! We had a delicious lunch from Barb’s Fish & Chips, which is definitely one of my favourite places to eat in Victoria. I don’t know what they do to their fish & chips, but man is it ever good. It was a wonderful day! A big thanks to the Greater Victoria Harbour Authority for it all!

Until next week, friends!
