The Fun Finder Team ended the weekend on Sunday happy and tired but a tad bewildered.  When you go to a duck pond, you expect to see ducks.  When you go to Hamsterly Beach, you expect to see, well, hamsters.

The lack of hamsters aside, we had a great time at Hamsterly Beach – the trails were in great condition, there were a lot of ducks (Duckerly Beach, anyone?), and several listeners stopped by to say hi!

Linda even stopped by to offer her favorite name for a hamster – Hazel! – and that cute name won her a pair of tickets to a Victoria Royals Hockey game.

On Thursday, the Fun Finder Team attended the MARPAC Health and Wellness EXPO along with local organization, educational centres, and military-to-civilian transition programs.

Over 1200 local military members, civilian employees, and their families attended the EXPO this year – and a few walked away with Ocean 98.5 Coffee Mugs after cracking our Lockbox!

Friday night we cheered as the incredible volunteers from Handbags4Hope presented the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation with a cheque for $50,000!

It was a fantastic evening of shopping and silent auction at the Bengal Lounge Fairmont Empress.  The proceeds from the event stay on the island and help support local families.

Saturday we were cheering again, but this time at the Pan Am Cross Country Championships held at Bear Mountain.  117 athletes from 12 countries competed in 8 races. Team Canada was well represented with a Silver Medal in the Women’s Junior (Sadie Sigfstead), a Gold Medal in the Women’s Senior (Genevieve Lalonde), and many top-ten finishes.  Congratulations to all the athletes!!!

Next weekend, you can find the Fun Finder Team at the Victoria Women’s Expo 2020 at Pearkes Recreation Centre.

A big Fun Finder thank you to Island Savings for helping us Find the Fun all year long! #keepingitsimple
