Hey!

It’s here! Whether you’re an excitable elf or a salty Scrooge, Christmas time is in the air and I couldn’t be more excited! Lights are going up, gifts are being wrapped, and stockings are being placed by the chimney with care. Visions of sugar plums might have gone the way of…well, sugar plums, but the spirit of Christmas remains pretty much the same throughout the years! Over 1600 years have passed since the first Christmas, and the premise has remained pretty much the same all those years: be kind to your neighbors and give gifts to the people you care about. Maybe your kids have xboxes and furby’s dancing in their heads (what the heck even is a sugar plum?), but the spirit of Christmas remains pristine and pure. It’s been bringing people together since long before we were here, and I don’t think it’s gonna stop anytime soon.

Perhaps the main reason for the continuing popularity of Christmas seems to be the immortal and all-powerful wizard people refer to as “Santa Claus”. Mr. Claus and I have had a tumultuous relationship throughout the years (the so-called “naughty list” is fraught with profiling accusations), but we managed to set that aside for Westshore Town Centre’s Santa Claus Parade on Saturday! You can catch Mr. Claus on his fancy chair every day until Christmas, and if you missed the parade, I tried to document the experience live (from inside the parade…) and you can check that on the Ocean 98.5 Facebook page!

I also had a blast at the Victoria Royal’s Pet Night! I got in some quality time with my ol’ pal Marty the Marmot, gave away a certificate to Growlie’s and balloted for some Weird Al tickets! I also had an absolutely delightful time handing out mini-cupcakes (courtesy of Cupcakes at Uptown) at Family Sunday at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria!
