The final day of the Royal Tour in Canada was a busy one in Victoria.

After a visit to the Cridge Centre for the Family, with some exciting meetings with local staff and participants in their programs and a large group of Royal watchers to be greeted. Prince William and Kate unveiled a statue in Victoria that pays tribute to those who overcome challenges at the Cridge Centre.

William and Kate slipped past a large audience at the Breakwater Cafe and Bistro for tea with Kelty Mental Health Resource Center to learn about their services at B.C. Children’s Hospital. William and Kate sat down in the cafe and shared cups of tea with the youth and heard their stories. Jasmine Rakhra, 21, had tea with the Duke and Duchess and shared that she had suffered from depression since a child. She said William and Kate genuinely cared about her and asked questions about how she is managing her life. “It was a very great experience,” she said.

Next, Will and Kate headed to the Pacific Grace tall ship for a sailing experience with SALTS and youth from Jack.org.

The tall ship Pacific Grace, is operated by the Sail and Life Training Society (SALTS), a charity that teaches young people aged 13 to 25 to sail. The ship is a Victoria built wooden hulled schooner and was a great westcoast touch to the Royal Visit in Victoria.

Prince William and Kate sailed with a crew of youth involved in programs run by Jack.org, a charity that supports student leadership in promoting mental health. The charity was started by the parents of Jack Windeler — a student at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ont. — after his suicide in 2009.
