OK, I’ll admit it. I skipped out on the gym last night. I had a good reason, the ol’ I forgot my running shoes excuse.

It ended up being a bonus, because I would have missed a walk under this sky…

The clouds were just fascinating — never seen anything like them. So, I started my usual photosnapping as The Todd and I walked through Layritz Park in Saanich. After I got home, saw a slideshow of the sky from many angles of Victoria on social media.

So what was going on with those clouds?

It turns out they’re called Mammatus clouds — they’re named for their distinct shape. Mammary shape. Haha, that explains the fascination.

These clouds, also known as mammatocumulus are often associated with storms but they didn’t cause any trouble in Victoria, they were just hanging out lol.
