The moment you heard about the mass shooting at a nightclub in Orlando, Florida this weekend, aimed at the LGBTQ community — your breath was stolen.

Your sense of security, regardless of your sex, age, race and politics — was suspended.

A hateful action that caused the death of 49 innocent people, was numbing. For a moment. Then, maybe — anger, tears, bewilderment. Yet now we stand here together with love in our hearts. Love for all those that are affected, love for your friend that was devastated at the news, love for your children that have had to glimpse such tragedy.

But here we stand, together. Symbols of our unity and love are standing around the world. From Victoria to Toronto, Paris to Orlando, positive energy is palpable today.

Love is what remains and symbols of this unite us around the world. I believe this energy makes a huge difference and the thoughtful conversations that we are having today will result in positive change.
